We’re recruiting a fixed‑term role, up to 2 years, for someone with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors (combustion plant, waste incineration, refineries). The role involves providing expert support, developing strategy, commissioning research projects, and working with stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, trade associations and internal operations teams.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training.
* Develop strategy for our sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, trade associations and other key industry players.
* Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident.
Qualifications & Experience
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, and experience of the work area for the role in question, gained either by working within and/or regulating relevant processes, including control measures for emissions to air where relevant.
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
* Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
