Overview
We are seeking a Gastroenterology Consultant to join Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. The role is based predominantly at Royal Preston Hospital with rotating in-reach to Chorley General Hospital. The post involves delivering high-quality Gastroenterology care across sites and working as part of a team of 7 Gastroenterology Consultants. Main duties
Provide direct input to patients on the gastroenterology ward (Ward 24) at Royal Preston Hospital, support resident doctors and advanced clinical practitioners (ACPs) covering ward referrals and Gastroenterology in-reach to the Emergency Department, and provide Gastroenterology in-reach to Chorley Hospital on a rotational basis
Participate in specialty multi-disciplinary meetings, regular governance and specialty business meetings
Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, including continuing professional development
Develop close links with local General Practitioners and community allied health professionals to support patient care across providers
Support postgraduate and undergraduate education, provide endoscopy training, supervise clinics, and participate in clinical and educational supervision

Qualifications
Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
MBBS or equivalent
MRCP
CCST in General Internal Medicine / Specialist Register entry within six months
MD or PhD
Evidence of ongoing personal / professional development
Experience and Skills
Recognised period of work in a specialist department treating upper and lower gastrointestinal conditions
Ability to undertake clinical audit and apply findings to clinical work
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST
Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Ability to manage and lead a multi-professional team
IT literate
JAG accredited colonoscopist
Management
Evidence of Clinical Leadership
Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice
Research and Development
Evidence of interest in personal development through research and/or publications
