Role Overview
This contractual position requires a skilled Chef to prepare meals for a high-volume, on-site dining program serving staff, faculty, and visitors at a major institution. The role focuses on delivering consistent, high-quality meals while adhering to dietary guidelines and operational standards. Key Responsibilities
* Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus in alignment with institutional dietary standards and seasonal availability.
* Oversee food preparation, portion control, and plating to maintain consistency across service periods.
* Manage inventory of perishable and non-perishable ingredients, coordinating with procurement to minimize waste and costs.
* Train and supervise kitchen staff in food safety protocols, including sanitation, cross-contamination prevention, and storage procedures.
* Collaborate with facility management to align meal service with event schedules, dietary restrictions, and sustainability initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Minimum of 3 years of professional chef experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment.
* Valid food handler certification and compliance with local health department regulations.
* Demonstrated ability to manage food costs and inventory within a budgeted framework.
* Strong leadership skills to direct a small kitchen team during peak service hours.
* Experience designing menus that accommodate dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten‑free, and allergen‑sensitive diets.
