About the Role
Mainstay Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Building Services Engineer (Electrical) to join our clients Technical Services team. This is a key leadership position focused on electrical engineering compliance, safety, and operational efficiency across complex and secure Ministry of Defence estates.
This role combines technical excellence with operational leadership, acting as the Qualified Supervisor (QS) and Authorised Person (HV & LV). Your work will have a direct impact on ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of vital electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and guide the electrical engineering team and subcontractors Oversee inspection, testing, and maintenance in accordance with BS7671 and BS5266 standards Ensure compliance with NIC/EIC accredited standards and maintain governance Act as Authorised Person (HV/LV) for the control of high-risk engineering activities Conduct audits and provide expert technical advice on electrical safety systems Support both planned and reactive maintenance operations Build and maintain strong working relationships with MOD stakeholders, Defence Infrastructure Organisation, and regulatory bodies
About You
Qualified to 18th Edition with City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) Hold NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent (ECS Approved Electrician) Previous experience as a Qualified Supervisor (QS) for electrical installation In-depth knowledge of BS7671, BS5266, and NIC/EIC compliance Experience as an Authorised Person (HV & LV) under JSP 375 UK National, over 18, eligible for and able to maintain SC Clearance
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
CompEx certifications (Ex0106, Ex12, Ex14) E&I inspection experience in oil, gas, or chemical sectors Fire safety or H&S qualifications (e.g. SMSTS) Proven team leadership and supervisory skills
