Headquarters London District are the main headquarters for British Army units within the M25 corridor of London and Windsor. It is responsible for all Regular units, Army Reserve units and Cadet Attachments. Headquarters London District is also responsible for leading and delivering London's ceremonial events. These include State Visits, Trooping the Colour and Beating of the Retreat at Horse Guards.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
We are looking for an individual to assist the Physical Training Instructor with the coordination and safe delivery of physical development activities for personnel within Woolwich Garrison, Regents Park Barracks and Territorial House and to assist with the daily management of the gymnasium facilities at these locations.
Person specification
1. Remain current with all Physical Development (PD) Policies in order to ensure compliance.
2. Routinely manage the facilities and bookings.
3. Deputise for the Royal Army Physical Training Corp Instructor (RAPTCI) in their absence.
4. Conduct gym inductions.
5. Assist Unit Fitness Training Officer and qualified Physical Training (PT) Instructors with the design of PT programmes to meet set goals.
6. Conduct safe physical testing and training for all units and sub-units, to include all components of fitness (strength, endurance, mobility) as detailed in the Army Physical Training System.
7. Deliver and manage sports programme.
8. Monitor and assure unit and sub-unit lessons and instructors / leaders.
9. Promote health and assist with delivery of the Health Fair.
10. Complete annual deficit training, essential reading, and continual professional development � Site visits/support to other Units
11. Additional tasks as directed by the line manager.
Essential :
Level 3 Personal Training Qualification (or equivalent).
Desirable Degree within:

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
