Maintenance Technician (Multi Trade Handyperson)
St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity providing help, advice and support to people in West Suffolk and Thetford in the final chapters of their life, who are living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. We are looking for a Maintenance Technician (Multi Trade Handyperson).
Purpose of the role:
To provide reliable and semi-skilled Multi Trade services to support the Hospice Property & Facilities Management team in the upkeep of Hospice assets and buildings, supporting the provision of planned preventative and reactive non-technical maintenance across the hospice estate. This role involves carrying out a variety of repair, reactive and planned maintenance, and general handyperson duties to ensure that the Hospice Estate is safe, compliant & operational.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform general snagging and carpentry
* Painting, decorating, basic electrical work
* Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
* Identify and report the need for major repairs
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
* Comply with health & safety policies and procedures, ensuring all work is conducted safely
* Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and complies with safety regulations
* Carry out seasonal tasks such as snow clearance, gutter and ground drainage cleaning, leaf removal, and general grounds upkeep including vegetation removal
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a handyperson or maintenance operative, or in a similar role preferably
* Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical repairs
* Good understanding of health & safety regulations
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
* Full UK driving licence is essential
* Experience working as a Multi Trade Handyperson
