Role
As a band 7 rotational clinical pharmacist, you will be part of the pharmacy clinical ward team to help deliver a high quality specialist service to our patients and the MDT. We will support you in developing leadership and mentoring skills with an opportunity to line manage pharmacists. Each post has an extended rotation of 1 year with management and project opportunities, including Gastro / Renal, ICU, Admissions, Pediatrics, Surgery, Care of Elderly, Education and Training and Virtual Hospital. The Pharmacist is responsible for the professional aspects of the day-to-day pharmaceutical service provided by the Trust, working closely with other members of the pharmacy team to provide a clinical pharmacy service to wards, and assisting in developing pharmaceutical services. The post holder is responsible for training and education of colleagues in and outside of the department and will be supported in conducting audits and/or quality improvement projects. The Royal Berkshire Pharmacy department is passionate about developing an excellent clinical pharmacy service and is looking for enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivated pharmacists to join our team.
Responsibilities
* Provide a high quality clinical pharmacy service to wards and work with the multidisciplinary team
* Develop and deliver training and education for colleagues inside and outside the department
* Engage in audits and quality improvement projects
* Support and develop leadership and mentoring within the pharmacy team
* Participate in extended rotations across specialties and contribute to service development
Qualifications
* Current registered member of GPhC
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
* Diploma in clinical pharmacy or General Pharmacy Practice
Desirable criteria
* Member of UKCPA
* Leadership qualification
* Independent Prescribing qualification; Hospital Pharmacy experience
* Extensive multi-disciplinary teamwork
* Extensive patient contact
* Audit or QI experience
* Risk management
* Educational supervisor
Other information
You must have appropriate UK professional registration. Working in Royal Berkshire Pharmacy department, you will be given the opportunity to rotate across various specialties, engaging with the multidisciplinary clinical team. The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest District General Hospitals in the country and is Reading’s biggest employer. Appointment to any position is conditional on satisfactory completion of core NHS Employment Checks. All new appointments are subject to a 6 month probationary period.
