We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to engage a 9-year-old boy with PDA autism, Down syndrome, and obesity in fun and supportive activities that promote weight loss and overall well-being. This role aims to create a positive environment where he can develop healthy habits through enjoyable physical activities tailored to his interests and abilities. Key Responsibilities: 1. Create an Engaging Activity Plan: - Develop a weekly schedule of fun and interactive activities that encourage movement and exercise, keeping in mind his preferences and comfort levels. 2. Physical Activities: - Organize age-appropriate, low-pressure physical activities such as: - Nature walks or outings to parks - Swimming sessions - Playtime at local playgrounds - Light games like tag, frisbee, or catch - Dance parties with favourite music 3. Nutrition Education Support: - Collaborate with caregivers to introduce healthy eating habits through fun cooking activities or snacks that incorporate fruits and vegetables. - Assist in having educational discussions about nutrition in a simple and engaging manner. 4. Encourage Social Interaction: - Facilitate playdates or group activities with peers to promote social skills and make physical activity a shared experience. 5. Monitor Progress: - Encourage and celebrate small achievements in physical activity and healthy eating, fostering a positive attitude toward weight management. 6. Adapt Activities as Needed: - Be attentive to his energy levels and mood, adjusting activities to ensure they are fun and not overwhelming or frustrating. 7. Safety and Support: - Ensure a safe environment by supervising activities closely and providing necessary support including personal care as needed. Qualifications: - Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs. - Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and Down syndrome. - Knowledge of obesity management and healthy lifestyle options for children. - Patience, creativity, and a genuine interest in promoting children's health and well-being. Rate of pay: £12.21 per hour.
