Care and Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) boasts a successful track record managing four prisons, a secure training centre, and numerous community contracts across England and Wales. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, we are looking for a full time Carpenter to join our FM team. In addition, you will deliver and manage all Locks at HMP Five Wells which will form part of the role. You will be responsible for the construction, installation, and repair of various wooden and structural elements around the establishment. Youll play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of our projects by performing a wide range of tasks from framing to finishing work.
With full Lock training provided if not qualified in this area, as part of your role, you will also ensure that locks are maintained and repaired in accordance with contract requirements, ensuring that all records are maintained and that all locks are effective and maintained.
Some of the key responsibilities are:
: To respond to call outs to repair damaged locks that may compromise security
: To undertake repair and fixing of carpentry related assets as required
: To undertake other support work required within FM to meet contractual requirements
: To operate in a safe and secure manner
: To keep up to date key and lock lists
: Fire Door remedial, including repairs, upgrades and modifications needed to ensure fire doors are compliant with safety standard and function correctly
: Construct and Install: Accurately measure, cut, and shape wood to construct and install structural frameworks, partitions, and flooring. This includes framing, roofing, and other key building components.
: Install and Repair Fixtures: Expertly install and mend interior and exterior fixtures, including doors, windows, cabinets, trim, and mouldings.
: Maintain Building Safety: Inspect and identify damaged or unsafe structures and fittings. Promptly perform necessary repairs and replacements to ensure the continued integrity and safety of the building.
: Collaborate and Communicate: Work effectively with other construction professionals, such as plumbers, electricians, and project managers, to ensure timely and coordinated project completion.
: Read Blueprints: Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and plan the layout of structures.
: Adhere to Safety Protocols: Rigorously follow all company and industry:standard health and safety regulations to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and others.
: Maintain Tools and Equipment: Keep all tools and equipment in good working order, ensuring they are used correctly and safely. Correct and Secure storage of keys, locks and spares
