Medical Reception staff are representatives of the practice and therefore it is essential the post-holder will
~ Ensure that patients needing urgent attention are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner

~ Explain practice arrangements to new patients and those seeking temporary help

~ Undertake a wide range of clerical tasks, have excellent keyboard skills and knowledge of word processing and data inputting

~ Be required to work on their own initiative and be first point of contact for the building in which they are based

~ To be able to work with minimum supervision within the parameters of this job description

~ Reception duties
~ Offer patients an appointment booking service, by phone and face-to-face and administer the appointment booking system

~ Prepare repeat prescriptions in accordance with the practice policies and protocols

~ Undertake all tasks associated with the day-to-day running of the computer system including links with patient services

~ Liaise with other receptionists in the organisation of clinics

~ To be involved and take part in training, audits and risk assessments as and when appropriate

~ The surgery has a population of around 10,000 patients so we are a very busy practice.
We consider ourselves a very friendly practice and welcome a range of medical students over the year.
There are a lot of groups that patients can attend from craft groups to table tennis and also we have an allotment on-site
