Job Summary

Do you want to gain experience as a Band 4 Assistant practitioner and be involved in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of Trauma and Orthopaedic patients? An exciting opportunity has arisen to work alongside experienced physiotherapy clinicians in the area of Trauma and Orthopaedics at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Pontyclun.

You will carry out treatment programmes under the guidance of a registered therapist in order to provide rehabilitation and other interventions to facilitate safe discharge. Some clerical and administrative tasks will also be undertaken (e.g. keeping records, filing, photocopying). You will be expected to work independently.

A positive and organised approach to rehabilitation is essential. Good communication skills and commitment to team working within a safe, empathetic and supportive environment are also needed.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has previous experience as a therapy or rehabilitation assistant in an NHS or care setting.

The successful candidates will provide support to the therapy team on the Trauma and Orthopaedic wards in the day-to-day assessments of clients and delivery of physiotherapy treatment programmes. They will be involved in assessment, progression and discharge planning of this patient group, utilising rehabilitation programmes. You will be responsible for your own caseload, working both individually and alongside other members of the team. Your tasks will include gathering information about home circumstances, completing specific functional assessments, ordering equipment if needed, providing rehabilitation and planning discharges.

The Band 4 role will also involve the timely planning of discharge and referral to onward community services.
