Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow
Do you want to be a part of a growing Water Design team? Can you collaborate on projects? Are you a Chartered Engineer? Then, read on. This could be the next adventure in your career.
To further strengthen our Water team in Glasgow, we are looking for a Technical Director to join us. You will work on a range of water and wastewater programmes for UK water companies and design-and-build contractors, including wastewater and water treatment works, pumping stations, pipelines, storm overflows (CSOs), storage structures, and associated civil infrastructure.
Your key responsibilities will be:
* Overseeing and delivering water and wastewater projects through all stages of project delivery. This will commence at concept and initial feasibility through to commissioning and project handover.
* Production of engineering design, assessment or checking work including preparation or checking of calculations, written reports and other contract deliverables.
* Development of project controls and monitoring of progress against programmes.
* Ensuring that design, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice.
* Building and developing a team of engineers, assisting their progression to Chartered status.
* Coordinating the work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers.
* Developing and maintaining Client relationships through your project work.
* Assisting with the preparation of Water & Wastewater bids and tenders.
Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.
On top of that, you’ll have:
* Achieved Chartered Engineer status (MICE, MCIWEM, MIStructE or equivalent) or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience with an established track record of delivering water sector design projects.
* A Water/wastewater design engineering background, working within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Commercial awareness and be able to support project managers in contractual and commercial discussions.
* The ability to coordinate project teams and supervise the delivery of projects, either as Client's or Contractor's designer.
* Experience in developing a team, with the ability to support, mentor and develop less experienced engineers.
* Familiarity with industry-standard design and modelling tools used in the water sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
