Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production. The role involves creating and maintaining process documentation, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and providing technical expertise in manufacturing systems, CNC programming, tooling, and process optimization.


Responsibilities

* Process & Documentation Control
o Interpret and understand detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
o Compile and update Manufacturing Instructions, Route Cards, T-Sheets, and Batch Cards.
o Produce Inspection and Test Plans to ensure product quality and compliance.
o Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support Engineering Change Processes.
o Update ERP systems and manufacturing databases to reflect latest processes and configurations.
* Manufacturing Process Development
o Analyse manufacturing data to assess process capabilities and identify areas for improvement.
o Optimize and improve process capability to meet or exceed productivity and quality targets.
o Provide plant and process layouts for new and existing products, focusing on cellular manufacturing and lean principles.
o Support the maintenance and development of jigs, fixtures, and tooling for new and existing processes.
* Technical Support & CNC Programming
o Develop and provide CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis milling and mill/turn machines.
o Create CAD models and CNC programs using EdgeCam and SolidEdge software.
o Inspect finished components and tooling using 3D probes and measurement systems.
o Modify and interrogate CNC programs to ensure efficiency, reliability, and compliance with production standards.
o Troubleshoot manufacturing and programming issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production flow.
* Continuous Improvement
o Lead and support continuous improvement activities (Kaizen events) across manufacturing operations.
o Implement operational best practices and contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives.
o Ensure all processes align with company standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.


Skills & Experience Required

* Proven experience in a Manufacturing or Production Engineering role.
* Strong understanding of CNC machining, tooling, and manufacturing methods.
* Experience with EdgeCam, SolidEdge, or equivalent CAD/CAM software.
* Knowledge of ERP systems and BOM management.
* Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
* Strong organizational and communication skills.


Qualifications

* HND/Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* Additional qualifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related disciplines desirable
