Emergency Department Practice Development Nurse

Responsibilities
* Teach and devise in-house training and development programmes for all grades of workforce in the emergency department.
* Maintain and improve standards of patient care through facilitation of training for clinical and non-clinical staff.
* Support and facilitate innovation in care provision in a structured, creative, and systematic way.
* Develop and contribute to guidelines and implement developments in practice.
* Work alongside the practice development team on Trust education and service development plans.
* Lead the provision of development courses/training for staff in line with Trust education policies and statutory training requirements.
* Receive and interpret Trust communications, directives, policies, guidelines and corporate objectives, and present this information to all levels of clinical staff.
* Plan and contribute to the development of new educational programmes.
* Undertake responsibilities, clinical care and directives as designated by the Matron and Divisional Chief Nurse.
* Manage self, including planning work, delivering to deadlines, and monitoring the quality of own work; coordinate with external providers to arrange guest speakers to support the practice education programme.
* Educate the workforce to deliver first line emergency care.
* Serve as a role model and support high standards of care by working clinically alongside clinical and non-clinical staff.
* Contribute to teaching and mentoring student nurses undertaking MKUH Hospital practice placements.
* Contribute to the design, planning and development of the practice development service.
* Submit an annual report on practice development in emergency care to the Matron and Divisional Chief Nurse.
* Undertake risk assessments and manage/minimise risk to patients and staff in accordance with Trust policy.
Qualifications & Attributes
* Expert practitioner in nursing with a high level of clinical credibility.
* Ability to establish close working relationships with senior nurses and medical staff.
* Ability to influence policy and practice.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Experience in the Emergency Department and in practice development.
