Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust provides inpatient and community mental health, learning disability, and autism services to a population of over 2 million people across County Durham, Tees Valley, North Yorkshire, and York. We are geographically one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in England, and also a provider of forensic and health & justice services across the North East and Cumbria, and in Yorkshire. Working in a collaborative, multi-agency environment, we are a large and complex organisation operating out of more than 90 sites, with an annual income of over £500 million.
Whilst we remain rated as 'Requires Improvement' by the CQC, their 2023 Inspection reflected we have made significant progress in improving our services, with all services rated 'Good' for 'Caring', and we aspire to be 'Good' or better in the 'Safe' domain. We remain committed to making the Trust a great place to work and building on the progress already made, to continue providing safe, kind, and effective care for our communities. At this exciting time for our Trust, we are seeking to appoint a values-driven and inspiring Non-Executive Director and two Associate Non-Executive Directors to our dynamic Board.
Accountable to our Council of Governors and the public, the Non-Executive Director provides oversight, governance, leadership, and scrutiny. As a full voting member of our Board, you will constructively challenge our performance, and progress on the delivery of our strategy and our vision, in order to be assured on the integrity of our risk management. You will sit on and chair committees of the Board.
Although they are not voting board members, in most respects Associate Non-Executive Directors fulfil the same role, attending board and committee meetings alongside Non-Executive Director colleagues. Joining our Board as an Associate Non-Executive Director provides an exciting opportunity to make a difference and help us to better represent our communities more effectively whilst developing the skills and experience needed to become a Non-Executive Director.
Across each of these appointments, we are seeking exceptional individuals; strategic leaders with senior level/board experience gained in complex, changing, and multi-stakeholder environments either in the private, public, or not-for-profit sectors. To complement our existing team, we are interested in hearing from individuals with backgrounds covering the following areas: clinical leadership, whether as a registered medic or nurse; financial leadership; and strategy and transformation (including digital). Whatever your background, you will help define the culture of the Trust, bringing strong communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrating a commitment to our Trust Values: Respect, Compassion, and Responsibility.
We want our Board to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, and we are keen to attract candidates who can bring diverse perspectives, and or personal and lived experience of the services we offer. We warmly welcome expressions of interest from the widest possible range of backgrounds, particularly those who are under-represented at board level in the NHS.
