Level 5 Early Years Operations manager Apprenticeship – Growing Places Havant

Shoots Training are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to complete their Level 5 Early Years Operations manager Apprenticeship at Growing Places Havant.

Our Growing Places approach is inspired by the values of the Reggio Emilia nurseries and pre-schools in Italy. This is an inspirational approach that builds a culture that respects childhood and allows each child to have daily opportunities to play, explore, discover, communicate and develop tolerant, understanding relationships. Bringing together, children, parents and staff in a journey of education.

We currently have five award winning nurseries, all registered with Ofsted as GOOD and OUTSTANDING, within Havant, Waterlooville and Fareham.

Our rooms are Babies, Family and Pre-School

Our additional opportunities include Physical Project, Outdoor Forest School, weekly outings and weekly visits to our outdoor provision, Little Acorns which has a small holding of animals.

We care for children between the ages of 3 months to 4 years.

Your duties and responsibilities will include;

* To ensure you keep updated with changes to safeguarding and child protection legislation and ensure safeguarding procedures are understood and followed at all times.
* To ensure effective planning, reviewing and recording of individual children's development is carried out and shared with parents and other agencies as appropriate.
* To ensure all administration is completed consistently, within agreed timescales and to a high standard.
* To ensure children's holistic needs are met Inc. health, food, physical, emotional and intellectual.
* To ensure the effective financial controls of the nursery, including billing, chasing debtors, reviewing occupancy levels linked to staff costs.
* To provide effective management, motivation and leadership of staff and to ensure efficient administration of the nursery.
* Initiate and sustain an effective 2-way sharing of information with parents and carers. Confidentiality being a priority.
* To promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with all health & safety and safeguarding legislation in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
* To be pro-active in own professional development as a role model to other team members, including, being aware of new legislation/initiatives in early years and researching best practice to share with management team.
* To give clear consistent direction to all team members review progress and celebrate success.

The Setting Manager will be expected to:

* be a role model and advocate for the ethos and culture of Growing Places, positively contributing to the delivery of the shared vision and philosophy of the setting/company.
* be a point of contact for Ofsted and any other regulatory bodies.
* be passionate, driven and highly motivated in providing a first class service for ALL stakeholders in the setting.
* provide leadership that ensures high quality childcare provision, which is flexible in meeting individual need(s).
* be an effective communicator and be committed to working at the highest standards.
* be positive, enthusiastic and passionate about Early Years childcare and education.
* be highly motivated, provide effective leadership and be a role model to other Early Years Educators.
* work effectively with other members of the management team to ensure that the best possible opportunities are available for every individual child.
* ensure setting environments include a wide range of creative play experiences that are developmentally appropriate and reflect the fundamentals of Growing Places, whilst recognising our children as individuals.
* lead change positively and effectively, encouraging involvement by all, ensuring this is done in a timely way.
* ensure the company's healthy eating policy fundamentals are embedded in practice consistently, and to ensure that all children's food allergies and special dietary requirements are shared and followed. These should be updated regularly for consistency.
* to encourage the children to enjoy the social aspects of eating together and ensure there are no missed opportunities for learning in these everyday opportunities.
* ensure all company standards and policies/procedures are adhered to.

have an understanding of best practice models throughout the world and continue to research.

Administration Responsibilities

To ensure efficient administration of the nursery effective financial/other controls* of the nursery (including billing, chasing debtors, reviewing occupancy levels and staff costs)

* monthly reflections/dashboard data & detail.
* termly group manager's visit - audit & action plan.
* ensuring reporting procedures are followed.
* setting communication* – e.g. calendar / events / newsletter.

* Regularly report to the CEO / Head of nurseries, as required (incl: minutes from all meeting held with staff, health & safety matters, monthly reflection information, children's development issues, staff issues, other concerns).

Requirements;

* Level 3 Childcare is essential
* Maths level 2 equivalent within 2 years of being In post
* First Aid
* Safeguarding Level 2
* Excellent communicator, clear communication with all stakeholders
* Has a good ability to use technology required to fulfil the role (IT, management online systems)
* At Least 2 years leadership position and managing people
* Some knowledge or experience of operational running of a nursery, including budgeting
* Shows a positive 'can do' attitude
* Communicates positively including when giving and receiving feedback
* Approachable and understanding
* Can follow directions and work to an agreed standard
* Strong organisational and management skills
* Enthusiastic and passionate about Early years education
* Able to articulate and reflect Growing Places ethos, fundamentals and values (Training could be provided)
* Is knowledgeable about individual child development
* Is up to date on current legislation EYFS, Ofsted, safeguarding & H&S and is able to articulate their role in these areas.

Hours;

* Growing Places Havant is open from 7:30am – 6:00pm Monday to Friday
* The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week
