Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quality Engineer to join our team in Ripley, Derbyshire. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for someone with a strong background in precision engineering—particularly within the aerospace and/or nuclear sectors—who is passionate about quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities;
Quality System & Compliance
* Support the Quality Manager in maintaining certifications to all applicable standards.
* Conduct product and system audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
* Compile documentation packs to support product delivery and traceability.
Inspection & Engineering Support
* Provide engineering support for Visual and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspections.
* Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine quality standards.
* Apply First Article Inspection techniques in line with AS9102 requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
* Use quality tools to detect, contain, and investigate non-conformances, ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented.
* Define and apply process control methods, including identifying critical control points and developing work instructions.
Team Leadership & Mentoring
* Mentor and coach other members of the Quality team.
* Collaborate effectively across departments to drive quality culture and performance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in quality assurance within a precision engineering environment.
* Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems.
* Qualified in quality auditing.
* Proficient in using quality tools and interpreting technical drawings.
* Knowledge of first principle measurement techniques.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
* Experience with Source Change Control and customer-specific standards (e.g., SABRe, GS3001).
* Lead Auditor qualification.
* Certified in Lean Manufacturing or Lean Six Sigma.
* Familiarity with manual and visual inspection methods.
* Understanding of NDT techniques, especially Fluorescent Particle Inspection.
* Ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.

* 07:30–16:30 (Mon–Thu)
* 07:30–14:00 (Fri)
