Overview
We need SEND Specialist Tutors to provide tailored 1:1 tuition for young people who are currently unable to access mainstream education. We work with children and young people across Gloucester who have a variety of SEND needs and require an individualised approach to learning. Many of these learners may feel anxious about attending school, have struggled to stay engaged in a classroom environment, or need additional support to meet their educational goals.
As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will design and deliver bespoke lessons to help bridge gaps in learning, rebuild confidence, and encourage re-engagement with education. This role is highly rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact on each student\'s development and future pathway.
Responsibilities
* Design and deliver bespoke lessons to bridge gaps in learning and rebuild confidence.
* Encourage re-engagement with education and support students to meet their educational goals.
* Provide flexible, part-time tutoring across various locations in Gloucester (contract type: temporary, part-time per student).
* Collaborate with the placement team through weekly progress reviews to ensure the best outcomes for each pupil.
Location and Schedule
* Location: Various locations across Gloucester
* Working Hours: Primarily during school hours (Monday to Friday), arranged to suit family schedules
* Contract Type: Temporary, part-time (6-15 hours per week per student)
* Start Date: ASAP
* Duration: Ongoing, until the student can reintegrate into mainstream or specialist provision
Qualifications and Requirements
* QTS or equivalent
* UK classroom teaching experience
* Experience supporting students with SEND (PECS/Makaton desirable but not essential)
* Creativity, patience, and the ability to adapt teaching to individual needs
* Experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged learners
* Legal right to work in the UK
* Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
* Two professional references covering recent, child-related work
