In your role as Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the identification, leadership and management of Strategic technology projects as directed by the Off Cycle Manager, ensuring that all deliverables are achieved within time and budget constraints. Projects will often be delivered with support from external agencies such as Universities and Research & Technology organisations as well as other JLR internal resources. WHAT TO EXPECT You will be responsible for Performance against financial commitment and spend as well as project timing. Here’s what else to expect: • You will seek ways and methods to improve the processes and ways of working of the GME-P department, develop and implement solutions to increase departmental productivity • Contribute to the creation of GME-P Engineering strategy and Business plans, including the creation, development and approval of Technology roadmaps • Liaise with Academic, Research and Technology organizations in order to gather information on potential new technologies for evaluation and to create and maintain business partnerships where appropriate • Contribute to the definition and creation of departmental and functional standards and protocols • Development and creation of Bills of Process to best capture project learning and new methods • Identify and investigate opportunities for external funding whilst ensuring internal JLR Governance processes are met • Ensure that new ideas and processes are disseminated across the business to develop best practice and avoid duplication or the creation of “shadow tech” WHAT YOU’LL NEED Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including: • Experience of working within a process engineering role within a machining or assembly business, preferably powertrain or similar types of components • Comfortable working in an environment where knowledge is not always available and must be developed in a timely and cost-effective fashion • Have a record of proactive delivery and commitment to meeting deadlines including previous projects and budgetary management experience • Ability to communicate at all levels via written reports or presentations • Educated to master’s degree level in an Engineering, science or maths based discipline. Other qualifications will be considered if relevant knowledge and experience can be demonstrated to a high level • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally • Have experience in the Project Management of technology projects from inception to final hand-over THE BENEFITS This role is rewarding in more ways than one.
