My client is an established digital agency specialising in high-performing eCommerce solutions for a diverse range of brands. Renowned for their technical expertise and creative approach, they deliver tailored Magento builds that help clients scale and succeed online.
As part of their ongoing growth, my client is looking for an experienced Backend Magento Developer to join their fully remote development team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising Magento 2 websites across multiple client accounts. Working closely with front-end developers, project managers, and technical leads, the Backend Magento Developer will ensure high-quality, efficient, and scalable code delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, test, and maintain custom Magento 2 modules and integrations.
* Optimise backend performance for large-scale and high-traffic eCommerce sites.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in staging and production environments.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and enhancements.
* Follow best practices for version control, documentation, and clean coding standards.
* Integrate with third-party systems including payment gateways, ERPs, and CRMs.
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum of 3 years’ commercial experience in Magento 2 backend development.
* Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and RESTful API development.
* Familiarity with Composer, Git, and modern deployment workflows.
* Excellent understanding of OOP, MVC architecture, and Magento’s EAV model.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Previous experience working within a digital agency environment is highly desirable.
Desirable Skills
* Magento Certification (Associate or Professional Developer).
* Experience with Docker, Linux, or cloud hosting environments.
* Familiarity with ElasticSearch, Redis, or Varnish.
* Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
