Title: CNC Turner – Sliding Head (Night Shift)
Location: Newcastle-Under-Lyme
Salary: Up to £58K (Including Shift Allowance)

Hours: Monday to Thursday 18:00 – 06:00
Base Hourly (No Shift Allowance): £16.50 – £18.00
Pay Structure: 39 hours paid at 1.33x rate, 7 hours paid at 1.5x rate
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to run the sliding head section on night shift. This is a key role within the business, responsible for producing high precision components on modern sliding head lathes. The successful candidate must be confident in setting and operating sliding head machines and working independently on nights while maintaining quality and output targets.
Key Responsibilities
• Working safely in line with company Health and Safety procedures
• Setting and operating sliding head CNC lathes
• Producing components to tight tolerances and technical drawings
• Carrying out in process inspection in line with the company QMS
• Monitoring cycle times and highlighting improvement opportunities
• Reporting any production or quality issues to the Production Manager
• Maintaining an organised and tidy work area
• Ensuring tooling and materials are correctly stored and managed

• Star SR20J
• Star SR32J
Candidate Requirements
• Proven experience setting and operating sliding head lathes
• Experience with Star machines highly desirable
• Strong understanding of precision engineering and tight tolerance work
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Comfortable working independently on night shift
