Reed Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a well-established environmental services business who are looking for a skilled and motivated HGV Fitter / Mechanic Technician to join their growing fleet operation. This is a hands-on, responsible role where you'll take ownership of HGV maintenance, diagnostics, and workshop organisation. You will be working on a mixed fleet of HGVs and light drainage vehicles, ensuring all assets remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. HGV Mechanic - Salary, Benefits & Hours £16.75 - £21.00 per hour (dependent on experience)Working hours: 7:00am - 4:30pm45 hours per week20 days holiday + 8 bank holidaysContributory pension schemeOvertime available (evenings and weekends)Free on-site parkingStaff canteenStable workload within a growing environmental services businessA role offering real responsibility and autonomySupportive team environment with long-term career prospects Duties and Responsibilities Carrying out diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance (PMIs) on HGVs and light drainage vehiclesDiagnosing and rectifying mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using diagnostic equipmentEnsuring all vehicles meet roadworthiness, DVSA, and compliance standardsManaging MOT bookings and supporting statutory inspection schedulesAccurately tracking workshop time, inspections, and maintenance recordsMaintaining high workshop standards, including cleanliness, security, stock control, and COSHH complianceProviding technical support and guidance to operational teams dealing with vehicle or equipment issuesTaking pride in the smooth day-to-day running of the workshop Skills & Experience Required Extensive experience as an HGV Fitter / MechanicStrong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilityConfident using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic systemsSolid mechanical knowledge of HGV engines, hydraulics, braking systems, and vehicle assembliesAbility to read and interpret technical manuals and schematicsHighly organised, reliable, and safety-focusedComfortable working independently and taking responsibilityFull UK driving licence required (HGV licence advantageous but not essential) If you are interested click apply today and one of our team will come back to you.
