Overview

Role: Careers Advisor & Exams Officer. Location: Regency High School. Hours: 32.50 hours per week – Term time + 5 days. Grade: SC6/SO1 depending on experience. Required as soon as possible.

Join Regency High School to provide professional career guidance and exams services, including personal guidance interviews, administering internal and external examinations, and coordinating exam invigilators during key exam periods.


Responsibilities

* Personal Career Guidance: conduct client-focused, impartial, personal career guidance interviews with pupils to help them make informed, realistic and adaptable career decisions.
* Maintain client records electronically, including a summary of agreed actions/action plans.
* Careers Information: use up-to-date careers information and labour market information to help pupils identify, access, interpret and utilise relevant information; organise careers fairs and related activities with the Careers Leader.
* Career Guidance Programmes: advise on resources and providers; facilitate career-related learning activities; assist with monitoring, evaluation and reporting on Gatsby Benchmarks and the Quality in Careers Standard.
* Networking, Consultancy and Advocacy: refer to specialist services as needed; communicate with external agencies; involve parents where relevant and attend parents’ evenings; negotiate Service Level Agreements when appropriate.
* Professionalism: comply with legislation and professional practice codes; safeguard young people; engage in CPD to maintain and develop professional practice.
* Carry out additional tasks as reasonably requested by the Headteacher to support the effective running of the school.


Person Specification


Qualifications & Training

* Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 6 in Career Guidance and Development) or willingness to work towards one.
* GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Exams Officer training or willingness to complete training (e.g. via JCQ/Awarding Bodies).


Experience

* Experience working in a school or educational setting (preferably in a pastoral, careers, SEN, or exams-related role).
* Experience providing 1:1 and group careers guidance to young people with a range of needs.
* Experience in managing and administering internal and external data.
* Experience using school management systems (e.g. SIMS, Arbor, or similar).


Knowledge & Skills

* Strong knowledge of post-16 and post-18 pathways including further education, training, apprenticeships, and supported employment.
* Up-to-date understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks, Careers Strategy, and the CDI framework.
* Knowledge of JCQ and awarding body regulations relating to exams and access arrangements.
* Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
* Strong IT skills, including confidence in using Excel, databases, and online careers platforms.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with pupils, parents, staff, and external agencies.
* Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet statutory deadlines.
