Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor Job Description
The Mechanical Supervisor is a key role within the Maintenance team, responsible for supporting the safe operation of assets, plant productivity, and reliability. As the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you will:
* Report directly to the Maintenance Manager and be a direct report to Mechanical Maintenance Technicians and Mechanical Shift Maintenance Technicians.
The primary responsibilities include overseeing all mechanical maintenance tasks, ensuring safety standards are maintained, and compliance with site and industry regulations to operate as a top-tier COMAH Site. You will work closely with operations to meet quality requirements related to ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001, and cGMP, including cross-contamination prevention.
Take full responsibility for all Mechanical Maintenance activities, ensuring tasks are completed safely and timely. Collaborate with the Planning & Scheduling team and Site Engineers to increase plant reliability for all production assets.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Accountabilities
Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental standards are maintained during all work activities. Manage all Mechanical work, including breakdowns, preventive maintenance (PMs), compliance tasks, regulatory work, and defect repairs. All tasks should be completed promptly, with work orders closed within the CMMS system.
Manage the Mechanical Maintenance team daily, including:
* Adhering to safe operating procedures and management protocols.
* Allocating work to team members.
* Reviewing and issuing work packs and ensuring RAMS are adequate.
* Monitoring progress and updating all stakeholders.
* Handling priority work from defect identification to completion, including raising PRs, organizing resources, and creating RAMS.
* Documenting and closing out work in the Maintenance Management System.
* Managing team timekeeping, holidays, disciplinary issues, and deputies for the Maintenance Manager.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to develop job packs, RAMS, and schedules to ensure accurate weekly planning. Contribute to root cause analyses (RCAs) and follow up on actions to improve equipment performance and reliability. Provide first-line problem solving for mechanical faults and work delivery issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring PMs are executed according to equipment needs.

Ensure all Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are met during maintenance activities. Promote a positive safety culture within the team. Ensure work is performed safely and according to company guidelines. Report accidents, near misses, and suggest improvements or best practices demonstrated by the team.
Equipment Management
Ensure timely completion of PMs, compliance, and regulatory work orders. Supervise Mechanical Technicians, instructing on priority tasks aligned with site priorities. Support projects and changeovers as needed. Coordinate with OEM contractors for inspections and plan future PM tasks with the Maintenance Planner.
