Job Summary
Devonport Naval Base is the largest Naval Base in Europe, covering 650 acres with 15,000 acres of water space, employing 12,000 people. It focuses on delivering deep maintenance to the UK’s submarine fleet and is the home base for frigates, amphibious ships, and Royal Marines. It significantly contributes to Plymouth’s economy and workforce.
The base supports global operations and provides essential ships, submarines, personnel, and equipment to UK and allied forces. It aims to develop and deliver the Navy of the future with a flexible, supportive work environment and excellent facilities.
Role Overview
The Infrastructure Directorate manages HMNB Devonport’s infrastructure portfolio, supporting Navy Command’s submarines and overall naval operations. The Project Manager will deliver major infrastructure projects, managing requirements, budgets, and stakeholder relationships. Responsibilities include developing business cases, managing project delivery, and contributing to the Naval Base’s ongoing improvement and capability support.
Person Specification
Candidates must have a proven project management background, strong relationship management skills, and experience in leading teams and managing dependencies and risks. Good communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential. The role requires at least a Level 4 qualification in a Project or Programme management discipline or equivalent experience.

Additional Details
Salary: £36,530 plus pension contributions. Benefits include flexible working, development opportunities, and on-site facilities. The role is part-time (37 hours/week), with some flexible and hybrid working options.
