Prospero Teaching is expanding our specialist tutoring team, and we are looking for a committed Primary Tutor to support a young learner in the DT8 area.
This role is perfect for someone who is confident delivering English, Maths, and general primary curriculum, and who is dedicated to helping children re‑engage with learning and build strong emotional regulation skills.
✨ About the Role
You will work 1:1 with a primary‑aged learner who may have SEN and/or SEMH needs, providing tailored support to boost confidence, engagement, and progress.
Your responsibilities include:
Planning, preparing and delivering engaging, needs‑led learning sessions.
Assessing current attainment and setting clear, personalised learning goals.
Tracking, reviewing and evidencing academic progress through regular assessments and work samples.
Supporting the young person to develop emotional regulation strategies they can use independently in different environments.
Recording weekly student progress and attendance.
Being calm, patient, understanding and adaptable.
Creating a safe, nurturing learning space where the student feels encouraged and motivated.
🌱 What We're Looking For
A tutor who is:
Nurturing, caring and compassionate.
Patient, kind, and able to build trust with young people.
Strong in Primary English and Maths (general curriculum familiarity essential).
Organised, dependable and creative in their approach.
Comfortable working 1:1 with learners with SEN/SEMH needs.
Experienced in UK schools (minimum 1 year - ESSENTIAL).

Pay: £25-£30 per hour (self‑employed)
Hours: 8-10 hours per week - work with multiple students to build up hours
Contract: Part‑time (ongoing)
Additional roles available across Dorset and nearby areas for those interested in tuition or mentoring
📚 Essential Requirements
To be eligible, you must:
Hold the right to work in the UK.
Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply).
Provide professional references.
Have up‑to‑date Safeguarding training (or be willing to complete it).
