We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead and manage our talented design engineers at our office in Helston, Cornwall.
This is a fantastic office-based opportunity for a proven leader to take ownership of the design function, ensure technical excellence, and develop a high-performing team working on both new and existing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Lead, manage, and develop a team of experienced designers in a fast-paced environment.
✔ Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and support to ensure the team delivers high-quality, creative, and technically sound designs.
✔ Oversee and review designs to ensure all safety, fabrication, and construction requirements are met.
✔ Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.
✔ Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are optimised for manufacturing efficiency and installation.
✔ Attend meetings as and when required with customers, suppliers, and other departments to align design solutions with project requirements.
✔ Collaborate across departments to drive cost-effective and efficient design for manufacture and performance.
What We’re Looking For:
✅ Essential:
* Proven experience managing a design team in a manufacturing or construction-related industry.
* Proficient in CAD drawing software such as SolidWorks.
* A detail-orientated and disciplined approach to design.
✅ Desirable:
* Fabrication experience, particularly with steelwork/metal components (e.g., balconies, railings).
* Experience managing third-party contractors and support services.
* Knowledge of performance management techniques to support team growth and development.
