Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. This role is vital in supporting diagnostic testing and patient treatment plans. The Phlebotomist will work closely with patients, medical staff, and laboratory personnel to ensure efficient and accurate specimen collection.
The role can be permanent or on a bank basis. We are always happy to explore development to HCA role for the right candidate.
Duties
* Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages, including paediatrics.
* Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques to maintain patient safety and specimen integrity.
* Accurately label and process blood samples for laboratory testing.
* Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
* Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate any concerns.
* Document all procedures performed in accordance with medical protocols and laboratory standards.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
* Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
* Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and familiarity with catheterisation is an advantage.
* Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential for effective communication and procedure execution.
* Experience working in a laboratory environment is beneficial.
