An established and fast-growing food manufacturer in the Lancashire area is looking to appoint a Planning Coordinator to support production planning within a short shelf-life FMCG environment.
This role would suit someone with experience in production planning, supply chain coordination, or manufacturing planning who enjoys working in a fast-paced food manufacturing setting and collaborating closely with operations, technical, and commercial teams.
The Role
As Planning Coordinator, you’ll support short- and medium-term production planning to ensure customer demand is met while minimising waste and managing shelf-life constraints. You’ll play a key role in maintaining service levels, food safety compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Support daily and weekly production planning for short shelf-life products
* Create and maintain detailed production schedules, considering shelf life, allergens, changeovers, and capacity
* Coordinate plans with Production, Technical, Engineering, and Procurement teams
* Monitor labour, line capacity, and material availability to reduce downtime and late changes
* Manage short-term demand changes, including late orders and volume fluctuations
* Support stock control of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods
* Produce planning and performance reports (service level, forecast accuracy, stock KPIs)
* Support new product launches, promotions, and seasonal peaks
* Ensure planning activities comply with food safety and quality standards (e.g. BRCGS, HACCP)
About You
Essential:
* Experience in a planning, production coordination, or supply chain role within food manufacturing or short shelf-life FMCG
* Strong understanding of production planning in a high-volume environment
* Experience using ERP/MRP or production planning systems
* Good knowledge of shelf-life management and waste reduction
Desirable:
* Experience in chilled, fresh, or ready-to-eat food manufacturing
* Understanding of food safety standards such as BRCGS or HACCP
* Experience supporting promotions or new product launches

* Analytical with good attention to detail
* Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

* Good IT skills, including Excel
