Overview

This is a full-time opportunity on a fixed term contract/loan/secondment/internal move or temporary promotion basis for 12 months. The role will be based in South Mimms, Hertfordshire, with occasional travel to the Canary Wharf office in London. This role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Our working arrangements are flexible and hybrid. There is a minimum of 4 days per month on site to enable collaboration with partners and stakeholders, with attendance driven by business needs (typically up to 8 days per month; more on-site may be required for some roles). Remote working may be available for some specific roles; discuss with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhances and improves the health of millions of people through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. Digital and Technology (D&T) delivers an optimized IT infrastructure and secure data use to support the organisation. The Delivery Group provides a centre of excellence to drive an agile approach to technology-based change and to manage the full product development and implementation lifecycle.


Role purpose and responsibilities

* Support the delivery of project objectives and enable smooth project operations by assisting the project manager with project management processes and the coordination of business management actions.
* Planning and scheduling: ensure systems are in place to enable effective planning and scheduling.
* Monitoring and reporting: manage project controls and provide status reports; develop project performance reports.
* Administrative duties: ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently and ensure compliance with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning.
* Resources: lead a team responsible for identifying, developing and deploying resources; manage workforce planning and provide information for decision-making; procure supplies and services within delegated financial authority.
* Stakeholder management: engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and draft and sign off correspondence.
* Financial control: manage project spend and contribute to budgets and the project business case.
* Risks and issues: identify, manage and escalate risk areas with the risk manager as appropriate.

Nationality and security clearance

* UK nationals
* National of the Republic of Ireland
* Nationals of Commonwealth countries with right to work in the UK
* Nationals of EU/EEA/Switzerland/Norway/Iceland/Liechtenstein and family members with settled or pre-settled status under the EUSS, or those who have made a valid application for settled or pre-settled status
* Individuals with limited or indefinite leave to remain who were eligible to apply for EUSS before 31 December 2020
* Turkish nationals and certain family members who have accrued the right to work in the Civil Service

Security checks

* Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.
* People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks.


Benefits and terms

* Salary: £44,825 plus £12,985 employer contribution to the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
* Annual leave: 25 days on entry, rising by one day per completed year to a maximum of 30, plus 8 bank holidays; pro-rata for part-time staff.
* Privilege leave: 1 day.
* Hours: 37 hours per week for full-time staff; pro-rata for part-time staff.
* Occupational Sick Pay: one month full pay/one month half pay on entry, rising with service to a maximum of five months full pay/five months half pay.
* Mobility clause allowing movement across the Civil Service.
