Major Recruitment is seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join a well-established company based in Nottingham. To provide efficient and high-quality laser cutting services on a rotating shift basis, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to quality and safety standards. The Laser Operator must be able to independently run the laser and comply with first-off procedures with supervisory support as required. Reporting to the production Manager → Shift Supervisor → Deputy Supervisor Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate laser cutting machines with minimal downtime. Read, understand, and sign job sheets before starting jobs, ensuring any special instructions are followed. Complete first-off and production quality checks in line with the quality system; have them double-checked and signed off by a supervisor or deputy when available. Use forklifts safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations. Plan and schedule work using the planning schedule or supervisor instructions, minimising machine downtime. Utilise part sheets and stack jobs in a logical, efficient manner. Maintain all required documentation and quality system procedures accurately. Operate the laser as efficiently as possible, reducing unnecessary stops. Communicate and collaborate with other departments to resolve problems. Keep accurate operational records. Coordinate operator breaks to minimise machine downtime. Attend and engage in departmental meetings. Maintain housekeeping standards and adhere to cleaning schedules for machines and work areas. Comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures. Provide support to team members and cover duties as required. Seek support if there are issues with cut quality. Conduct thorough shift handovers, including job status and machine performance. Working Pattern: Shift Rotation: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (AM/PM rotation) Hours: 40 hours per week / Overtime avaliable paid at x1.5 and x2 on sundays Salary: DOE £1 Shift Allowance Breaks: 8 hours paid breaks included per week Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Previous experience in operating laser cutting machines (e.g., Trumpf, Bystronic, or similar). Familiarity with sheet metal and fabrication processes. Valid forklift licence (preferred). Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
