Job Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Non‑Medical Prescriber (NMP) to support adults with a range of mental health needs within a prison HMP Stoke Heath as part of Midlands Partnership trust. You'll complete specialist assessments, prescribe and review medication, and contribute to formulation‑based care plans.
You’ll manage your own caseload, support effective risk management and promote recovery, independence and wellbeing through person‑centred care. This role suits a confident clinician who is comfortable working autonomously with complex cases.
About You
You’re a qualified Non‑Medical Prescriber with a background in mental health, confident in medication management and clinical decision‑making. You build strong therapeutic relationships and work effectively in community settings.
You bring excellent assessment and prescribing skills, emotional resilience and a commitment to improving outcomes for people with mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a complex caseload, including assessment, prescribing and care planning
* Prescribe, review and monitor medication in line with best practice
* Deliver evidence‑based interventions, including pharmacological and psychologically informed approaches
* Complete and review risk assessments, promoting safe and positive risk‑taking
* Maintain high‑quality documentation, outcome measures and reports
* Work collaboratively within MDTs and with external agencies
* Provide clinical advice and support to colleagues where appropriate
* Contribute to service development, clinical governance and audit activity
* Communicate effectively with service users, carers and partner organisations
Essential Skills & Experience
* Registered RMN or relevant professional registration
* Non‑Medical Prescriber qualification (V300)
* In‑date prison clearance
* Experience working with adults with mental health needs
* Strong assessment, prescribing and risk management skills
* Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
* Experience in community mental health settings
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Previous Band 7 or senior‑level experience
* Training in psychological therapies (CBT, DBT, etc.)
* Experience providing supervision or clinical leadership
