Duties as Reception Year Teacher: Teach a Reception class full time on a temporary basis Deliver high-quality EYFS teaching using established planning frameworks Complete some planning as required, working closely with the EYFS team Support early literacy, phonics, numeracy, and play-based learning Maintain consistent routines and positive behaviour expectations Carry out observations and contribute to assessments where needed Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and EYFS colleagues Support children with a range of needs typical of an EYFS classroom Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare Ideal Reception Year Teacher: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with EYFS experience Confident teaching Reception and adapting provision to children’s needs Comfortable completing some planning alongside team support Strong behaviour management and nurturing teaching approach Good understanding of early childhood development and the EYFS curriculum Effective communication and teamwork skills Reliable, flexible, and open to the role extending beyond half term Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting children’s well-being Why Step Teachers?
