The post holder will be expected to work autonomously in managing the day-to-day delivery of the administration service. This will include;
• Use initiative and manage queries autonomously, escalating concerns as appropriate.
• Staying up to date with national government guidance and guidelines, offering this guidance as advice when appropriate.
• Handling significant quantities of confidential and business sensitive information on behalf of the Service.
• Responsible for own personal development and setting of personal goals and objectives as part of the health board appraisal process.
Main duties of the job
To line manage the Administrative Staff within the directorate to provide support to the Service Managers in the delivery of safe, efficient, effective and timely patient care across the Directorate.
To provide direct day-to-day operational support to the Service Managers in the provision of quality services within budget and that all opportunities for the continuous development and improvement of the service are appropriately considered and pursued.
To support the Service Managers in addressing urgent situations as and when they arise and know how to prioritise their workload.
To provide direct day-to-day operational support to the Service Managers in the delivery of all waiting list targets. Ensuring effective day to day operational management in accordance with best practice.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Appropriate degree level qualification in related area or equivalent demonstrable experience
2. Developed knowledge and confidence in the use of IT software packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Electronic Diaries, and Internet
3. Ability to collate, analyse and draw conclusions from data and present reports in a variety of formats
Desirable criteria
4. Experience using NHS systems e.g. Welsh Clinical Portal (WCP), Welsh Patient Administration Services (WPAS)
