Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join our dedicated team at Brinksway School. In this role, you will play a key part in providing nutritious and appealing meals for our students and staff, contributing to their overall wellbeing and creating a positive dining experience. Working alongside the Catering Manager, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment, ensuring all meals meet the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about food, safety, and creating enjoyable meals in a school setting, with plenty of scope to develop your skills and contribute ideas to menu planning.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of food items, following recipes and ensuring high-quality output.
* Handle and store ingredients safely, adhering to all hygiene regulations and training protocols.
* Maintain excellent food hygiene standards and promote safe working practices in the kitchen.
* Demonstrate knowledge of HACCP principles or undertake training to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
* Support menu preparation and contribute ideas to create practical, appealing, and nutritious meals.
* Work as part of a team to maintain a safe, efficient, and welcoming kitchen environment.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in catering, particularly in a school or similar kitchen environment, is desirable.
* Knowledge of food hygiene practices and safety regulations.
* A positive, collaborative attitude, and willingness to learn.
