1-Month Contract with a Local Authority Summary This role involves providing high-quality, professional legal and administrative support to the Chief Legal & Monitoring Officer and the wider Legal Team with minimal supervision. The position is crucial for ensuring efficient legal operations and maintaining the integrity of legal processes within the organisation. Responsibilities Serve as the super-user for the IKEN Case Management System, including advanced searching, creating new files, uploading documents, preparing court bundles, and generating reports for the Chief Legal Officer. Manage the filing, retrieval, and secure storage of legal documents, maintaining the Agreements system and electronic filing for easy access by the legal team. Ensure all legal documents are sealed accurately, promptly, and in accordance with the Council’s constitution. Monitor legal inboxes daily, identify the appropriate legal team for each query, and allocate matters accordingly with correctly opened files. Support Right to Buy work under supervision, including checking legal titles, verifying council ownership, preparing contract packs, ordering searches, and drafting transfer documentation. Prepare Court documentation for Single Justice Procedure cases (education prosecutions) via workflow systems to enable hearings to be listed. Essential Experience Required Experience working in a legal, local authority, or professional services administrative environment. Proficiency in case management systems (IKEN preferred) and document management. Experience preparing legal bundles, court documentation, and handling confidential information. Experience producing reports, data logs, performance dashboards, or KPI updates. Strong administration background including filing, document processing, and communication with stakeholders. Essential Qualifications Required GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths (required). Legal or business administration qualification. Training in case management systems (desirable).
