Job Purpose
The Graduate Engineer will support our engineering team, engaging with metrology, inspection and damage assessment inspection activities within the aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) environment as well as wider general engineering scope.. The role focuses on aircraft dimensional inspection, laser scanning, and measurement services to ensure compliance with aerospace standards and customer requirements. All activity will need to be reported concisely and delivered in a timely manner under pressure. This position provides hands-on experience with advanced metrology technologies and aircraft inspection techniques, combined with damage assessment methods and digital toolsets.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with aircraft and component inspection activities within an MRO environment.
Support laser scanning operations for aircraft structures, assemblies, and components using portable metrology systems (e.g. laser trackers, laser scanners, photogrammetry systems).
Assist in the set-up, operation, and verification of metrology equipment for on-aircraft and workshop-based inspections.
Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and inspection requirements to support dimensional verification tasks.
Collect, analyse, and process measurement data using specialist metrology software.
Produce clear inspection reports, measurement results, and technical documentation in accordance with aerospace and company standards.
Support defect assessment, alignment checks, deformation analysis, and repair validation activities.
Work in compliance with aerospace regulations, quality systems, and safety requirements (e.g. EASA/CAA, ISO/AS standards).
Assist senior engineers during on-wing and heavy maintenance inspection tasks, including working in confined or elevated aircraft areas where required.
Contribute to continuous improvement of inspection methods, accuracy, and efficiency.
Understand timely repair solutions and target the time critical activities.
Deliver concise reports in conjunction with the experienced members of the team.
Qualifications & Education
Bachelor's degree (or near completion) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
An interest in engineering, aerospace, MRO operations, and precision measurement is essential.
Skills & Technical Knowledge
Basic understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and dimensional tolerancing.
Awareness of aircraft structures, materials, and manufacturing or repair processes (desirable).
Interest or exposure to laser scanning, 3D measurement, or CAD-based inspection techniques.
Competent IT skills; experience with CAD or metrology software is an advantage.
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Awareness of the use and correct application of coding and AI
