Location: Ofsted rated Good college in Derby
Start Date: 15 September 2025
Hours: 24 hours per week, across 5 days (sickness cover)
Pay Rate: Circa £30 per hour (PAYE)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified practitioner to deliver engaging A-level Sociology and BTEC Applied Psychology lessons. You will provide high-quality teaching, cover sickness-related absences, and help maintain a stable learning environment for students aged 16+.
Responsibilities
* Deliver A-level Sociology and BTEC Applied Psychology lessons with clarity, energy, and adaptability
* Provide effective cover for teacher absences while maintaining consistency in students learning experiences
* Plan and deliver lessons that meet curriculum goals and exam specifications
* Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom culture that sustains student engagement and progress
* Liaise with departmental colleagues as needed to support continuity and student progression
Our Ideal Candidate
* Holds a relevant degree in Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field
* Qualified to teach (e.g., PGCE) in either of these subjects
* Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one promptly
* Experienced in teaching A-level Sociology and BTEC Applied Psychology, with a strong track record
* Flexible, reliable, and able to respond effectively to short-notice cover requests
