Media Relations Manager Role Profile
The Media Relations Manager is responsible for managing ICAEW's engagement with the media, raising the organisation's profile, and protecting its reputation. The role combines strategic responsibility - developing and delivering proactive media engagement aligned with ICAEW's priorities - with hands-on press office delivery.
Media Relations Manager Responsibilities include:
* Work closely with Head of Media Relations to develop and deliver ICAEW's media relations strategy in line with corporate objectives and campaigns.
* Manage the day-to-day running of the press office, ensuring professional, timely, and effective responses to media enquiries.
* Track and analyse ICAEW's media coverage, producing evaluation reports and insights for senior leadership.
* Build and maintain good working relationships with journalists, editors, trade press and counterparts in stakeholders' press offices across business, finance, government, and policy.
* Draft op-eds, articles, and features for publication under ICAEW's brand or senior spokespeople's names.
Media Relations Manager Candidate Profile
Requirements include:
* Proven experience in media relations, journalism, or communications, ideally within professional services, business, or government / policy.
* Demonstrated good news sense, with the ability to identify, shape, and pitch stories to journalists.
* Excellent writing and editing skills, capable of producing clear and engaging content under pressure.
* Confident communicator able to influence senior colleagues and handle sensitive issues.
* Experience managing both proactive campaigns and reactive press office activity.
