We seek an experienced Band 6 nurse to be a core member of a multidisciplinary team, involved in assessments, care planning, treatment, and support for people with drug and alcohol issues to promote health, independence, and recovery.
Main duties of the job
To discharge professional responsibilities under the Mental Health Act (1983), the revised Mental Capacity Act (2005), the NMC Code of Conduct, and SLaM commitments.
Be responsible for a caseload reflecting local priorities, assessing care needs under supervision.
Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based care programs, set care standards, and liaise with other agencies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Ensure risk assessments and management plans are completed, considering vulnerability and safeguarding.
Offer BBV testing, treatment, and naloxone at first contact.
Implement recovery-based care plans collaboratively, ensuring they meet service user needs and facilitate transfers when necessary.
Develop effective joint working with community mental health services, primary care, social services, and voluntary agencies.
Participate in training programs, mandatory training, and duty rotas.
Respect individual differences and uphold professional standards.
Lead clinical management of care packages within a multidisciplinary team.
Coordinate and monitor person-centered healthcare, using complex decision-making and promoting shared decision-making.
Deliver individual and group therapies, including CBT.
Provide physical care, emotional support, and therapeutic activities.
Conduct prescribed physical observations and respond appropriately to exceptions.
Supervise junior staff and students, contributing to education and training.
Monitor and develop service standards, collect data for audits and research.
Ensure compliance with policies and participate in clinical governance and recruitment activities.
If not an NMP, apply for training within the Trust. Post may require tasks at other sites/services.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with extensive post-qualification experience, especially in substance misuse and harm reduction.
* Continuing professional development relevant to substance misuse and harm reduction.
* Willingness to pursue NMP qualification if not already achieved.
* Diploma or degree in addictions or related fields like CBT, dual diagnosis.
* Non-Medical Prescriber.
* Mentorship qualifications and updates.
Experience
* Experience in producing reports, presentations, and policies.
* Supervising staff or students.
* Proficiency with word processing and databases.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and community settings.
* Managing clients with complex needs.
* Phlebotomy training.
Knowledge / Skills
* Understanding harm reduction, injecting behaviors, and safer sexual practices.
* Knowledge of physical and psychosocial issues in this client group and interventions.
* Knowledge of crack/stimulant and PIEDs interventions.
* Strong understanding of relapse prevention and recovery planning.
