We're offering an exciting opportunity to join our Young People's Learning team as an English Tutor, where you'll play a pivotal role in expanding and enriching our programmes for young people aged 16-25.

As an English Tutor, you will deliver engaging classroom‑based teaching across accredited qualifications and Functional Skills, with a strong focus on literacy development. You'll support young people aged 16-25 with SEND using a strength‑based approach, helping them achieve their individual learning goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging classroom‑based teaching across accredited qualifications and English functional skills.
* Support learners (aged 16-25) with SEND using a strength‑based approach to help them achieve their learning aims.
* Design and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), identifying gaps in knowledge and providing tailored support in literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.
* Build strong, professional relationships with learners, offering guidance, coping strategies, and learning support.
* Support learners to achieve high expectations and positive outcomes.
* Address learners' needs through effective problem‑solving and negotiation.
Requirements
* Teaching & Learning qualification at Level 3+, English and Maths Level 2 or equivalent, and English degree or equivalent.
* Experience working with vulnerable/SEND learners in an educational or training setting.
* English expertise.
* Strong teaching and digital learning skills.
* Commitment to high expectations and positive outcomes for young people.
* Excellent problem‑solving and negotiation abilities.
* You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight or other local authority, and must have a current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
* The post is subject to a Criminal Records Check; references will be requested prior to interview due to safer recruitment requirements for Children's Services.
