Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with mental health needs, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans, assess patient conditions, and provide therapeutic interventions. Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine mental health needs and develop appropriate care plans.
* Administer medications and monitor their effects on patients, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols.
* Provide therapeutic interventions including crisis intervention, counseling, and education to patients and families.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of services.
* Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies.
* Monitor vital signs, perform physical examinations, and assist with diagnostic evaluations as needed.
* Educate patients on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
* Participate in discharge planning and follow-up care to support patient recovery.
* Stay informed about current best practices in mental health care and participate in ongoing professional development.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
* Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner for effective patient documentation.
* Experience in various nursing settings including acute care, long-term care, assisted living, or home care.
* Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical documentation practices.
* Background in critical care or emergency medicine is preferred; experience in trauma medicine or pediatrics is a plus.
* Knowledge of behavioral health practices including case management, pain management, and hospice & palliative medicine.
* Skills in patient assessment techniques including vital signs monitoring, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
