Technical Sales Manager – Metro Rod
Join Metro Rod to support franchisees and the sales team in scoping, pricing, winning, and executing drainage projects across the UK.
Metro Rod & Metro Plumb are part of Franchise Brands, a group that provides drain clearance, maintenance, sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions to a broad portfolio of clients in FM, social housing, property management, retail, industrial and leisure sectors. Founded in 1983, the business relies on over 60 franchisees to deliver high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
Location & Employment
Full‑time permanent – remote based from Northampton, England.
Salary up to £48,000 DOE + commission.
What does it entail?
Your daily tasks will involve supporting franchisees and the sales team in scoping, pricing, winning, and executing drainage projects. You’ll use your background in drainage & pumps, coupled with exceptional communication skills, to ensure each project meets and exceeds client expectations. You’ll also uncover and develop opportunities, supporting the sales function that drives business growth and applying your knowledge of UK water company AMP cycles.
* Regular travel across the UK and to our Support Centre in Macclesfield (approximately three days per week).
What do we look for?
* Outstanding background in drainage operations (survey, maintenance, rehabilitation, pumping systems and treatment plants).
* Experience of sales support, project scoping, or technical consultancy.
* Ability to run projects end‑to‑end, from client scoping through to delivery.
* Hands‑on approach, willing to get involved practically where needed.
* Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety, compliance standards and drainage law.
* A commitment to exceptional customer service and a perseverance for solving challenges.
* The motivation to learn and develop.
* Collaborative approach with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, engaging effectively with all levels—from site teams to senior leadership.
* Proactive, enthusiastic and solutions‑focused, with a drive to tackle and resolve operational challenges.

* IOSH Managing Safely
* SMSTS
* Hands‑on training in patch repairs and full‑length liner installs.
* Confined spaces Medium Risk
* OS19X
* Knowledge of plumbing work.
