Packing Team Leader (Food Manufacturing)

Salary: £29,300 per annum + £1,600 per annum shift allowance

Sunday to Thursday, 2:00pm - 11:00pm
Lead, Motivate and Deliver in a Fast-Paced Packing Environment
Are you an experienced leader with a background in food manufacturing and packing operations? Do you thrive in a chilled production environment and have a passion for driving team performance whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality, food safety and efficiency?
We are seeking a dedicated Packing Team Leader to oversee packing operations, ensuring production targets are achieved whilst upholding exceptional food safety, quality and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage packing teams, fostering a positive, productive and safety-focused working environment.
* Allocate daily workloads and resources effectively to meet packing schedules and customer requirements.
* Ensure all packing activities comply with food safety, GMP, quality and health & safety standards.
* Conduct food safety and GMP audits, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
* Monitor packing line performance, identify issues and implement corrective actions where necessary.
* Liaise with Engineering and Production teams to minimise downtime and resolve equipment-related issues promptly.
* Motivate and develop team members to achieve productivity, quality and efficiency targets.
* Communicate any delays, shortages, quality concerns or operational issues to management in a timely manner.
* Support new product launches, packing trials and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure products are packed, labelled and palletised correctly in line with customer specifications and company standards.
Person Specification
* Proven experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory role within food manufacturing, packing or FMCG environments.
* Experience working in chilled environments (preferably between 4°C and 8°C).
* Strong understanding of food safety, GMP and quality standards.
* Fluent English communication skills (reading, writing and speaking) essential for accurate documentation and team communication.
* Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills.
* Positive, proactive and adaptable approach to work.
* Physically fit and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Site Rules and Expectations
* PPE must be worn at all times, including wellington boots, hair nets and beard snoods where applicable.
* No jewellery, false nails, false eyelashes, heavy makeup or visible piercings are permitted on site.
Performance Standards
* Maintain a GMP audit score of 85% or above.
* Achieve packing plan attainment targets of 95% or higher.
* Ensure accurate completion of all paperwork and Critical Control Point (CCP) checks.
* Minimise waste, product damage and giveaway.
* Maintain high standards of product presentation, labelling accuracy and packing quality.
