Senior Machine/Maintenance Engineer Company: Good4U FBIC - Unit 5, 45 Tullywiggan Road, Cookstown, BT80 8SG, Reports to: Plant Manager Rate of Pay: £37,000 Hours: 6:30am3:30pm (can be flexible) Background Good4U is a BRC accredited company passionate about using natural ingredients to create super-nutritious products with real health benefits. Based at our Cookstown facility, we specialise in growing sprouted seeds a superfood backed by research from the University of Ulster. We currently supply major retailers such as Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Morrisons, Tesco Ireland and more. Job Summary / Purpose: This role will be responsible for operating production machinery, troubleshooting and all site maintenance. Your day to day: Efficient Operation & Communication Operate, monitor, and adjust all production line equipment to achieve production targets/weekly plan. Support machine setup, changeovers, and end-of-shift run-downs. Ensure correct materials and settings are used throughout each shift. Communicate clearly with Production, Warehouse, and Quality teams to maintain smooth workflow. Prepare lines and work areas for the following days production. Maintenance & Continuous Improvement Carry out basic maintenance, preventive maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of machinery to prevent breakdowns. Record downtime and maintenance activities accurately. Diagnose and resolve minor faults quickly to reduce downtime. Work collaboratively with the Engineering team to resolve technical issues and prevent reoccurrence. Commission new equipment. Manage the spare parts register liaising with suppliers and placing orders where required. Manage site asset register. Assist with the automation of production processes as the site continues to grow and expand. Contribute ideas and feedback to improve equipment performance and production efficiency. Teamwork & Leadership Provide training and guidance to team members on machine operation and safety procedures. Ensure team members on the line are well-informed and competent in their roles. Rotate into production op roles occasionally when required due to nature of small team. Generate daily orders, pallet paperwork and other essential tasks in absence of Plant Manager Quality & Health & Safety Perform regular quality and CCP checks to maintain product standards. Identify and isolate any defective or non-conforming products. Follow all site Health & Safety and Food Safety policies at all times. Support quality checks in the absence of the Quality Assistant. Undertake training course(s) in Food Hygiene & Safety and HACCP (provided by Good4U). Undertake fork-lift driving course (provided by Good4U). Qualifications/Experience The successful candidate will ideally have mechanical, electrical and PLC experience. Machine operating experience Previous experience in a food industry desirable. A good knowledge of mechanical systems. Working experience of interpreting machine manuals and electrical drawings.
