Main duties of the job
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range ofhealth needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of carefor all registered and temporary patients.
About us
Kingsway Medical Centre is a training practice with Medical Students and GP registrars.
Whilst we work extremely hard, the culture of the practiceis friendly and welcoming. Prior toretirement, several members worked at Kingsway for over 30 years. We have an informal meeting room where teammembers often enjoy lunch together.
The GP team meet daily for an informal coffee catch up/peer support.
The team comprises of :
Three GP Partners (2 of whom trained at the practice andstayed on).
Three Nurse Practitioners providing acute appointments.
Three Practice Nurses and a Health Care Assistant.
The support team comprises of 10 receptionists and aseparate admin team.
Job responsibilities
Reports clinically to the GP Partners/administratively to the PracticeManager
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range ofhealth needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of carefor all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical Responsibilities
Inaccordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will makehim/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations, telephone/electronic consultations and queries, visitingpatients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing withqueries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation
Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems
Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
Inconsultation with patients and in line with current practice disease managementprotocols, developing care plans for health
Providinghealth education
Admittingor discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other careproviders as appropriate
Referpatients for further opinions and interventions according to Practice protocols
Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
Collectingdata for audit purposes
Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
Prescribingin accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) wheneverthis is clinically appropriate
Participatein the training of medical students/Registrars as required
Ingeneral the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

Person Specification
Experience
* Chronic disease management
* Delivery of QOF targets
* Time management, being able to prioritise work and work under pressure
Qualifications
* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
