Role: Animal & Garden Worker Location: Brearley Hall Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 Hours: Full time with weekend availability Are you looking for a rewarding career? We are looking for a caring and committed Animal and Garden Worker to join us in this new venture, to help us change the lives of children who require our care and educational support. ​ What you will be doing: We’re thrilled to offer a new and unique opportunity for an enthusiastic Animal and Garden Worker to play a key role in shaping a vibrant, therapeutic environment. In this hands-on role, you’ll care for our beloved farm animals—central to the therapeutic and life-skills experiences of our children—while also nurturing the estate grounds to create a safe, calming space where young people can truly thrive and grow. ​ ​ Key Responsibilities: Assisting with livestock care including feeding, cleaning out, and maintaining their basic healthcare needs. Maintaining and developing the gardens of the estate to continue with supporting the growth of our fresh fruit and vegetables on the grounds, and how we can incorporate children into these activities. Oversight of our Hydroponic, Propagation, and Mushroom grow room. Maintaining and developing the grounds of the estate, including the barn, to ensure the grounds are kept safe and accessible. Compliant with Health & Safety Regulations when operating common garden and farm machinery. ​ We are looking for: Someone who is passionate about being part of changing a child’s life and maximising the opportunities to do this through their work on the grounds, and in the barn. Enjoys being outdoors and the physicality of the role. Enjoys education children regarding nature as part of this role. Able to work as a team and independently, being able to manage and prioritise your own workload. We currently have three schools; Riverbank Primary School (Ofsted rated good with Outstanding features) which has children aged 6-11, Brearley Hall School (Ofsted rated good) and a recently opened Brookland School which is situated in a grand 19th Century Victorian house, both these secondary schools provide education to children aged 11-16.
