By the end of the lesson, they understand something different: history is not about remembering dates — it is about understanding why things happened, who held power, and how decisions shaped lives.
That is what this History Teacher role is about.
What This Role Actually Involves
You will teach KS3 and KS4 History in a school where subject knowledge, structure, and calm authority are valued. Lessons are planned. Routines are embedded. Debate is encouraged — but always with purpose and control.
Your role is to:
Deliver clear, well‑sequenced History lessons
Teach students how to analyse sources and evidence
Develop extended writing and structured argument
Prepare students confidently for GCSE assessment
Challenge misconceptions and deepen understanding
Maintain a focused, respectful classroom environment

This is not a performance‑led classroom. It suits a teacher who:
Enjoys explaining ideas carefully

Believes good discussion requires strong structure
Professional Requirements
Experience teaching History at secondary level is preferred
Strong subject knowledge and classroom presence are essential
QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly those with strong academic backgrounds or relevant teaching experience.
