Here at Coleg Sir Gar, we are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Lecturer in Furniture Design & Making to join our creative and committed team.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake the teaching, assessment and coordination of programmes of study leading to qualifications within Furniture Design & Making for level 2 and level 3.
* Take on the role of a Learning Area Programme Lead (LAP leader) for one cohort and contribute to the management of this subject area.
* Provide support, as a member of the team, in the administration and resource development within the area.
* Assist in the provision of Furniture Design & Making through liaison with industry and potential development of commercial courses.
* Contribute to the quality of provision through the internal verification system.
* Prepare relevant teaching material for assigned subjects.
* Prepare resource materials and facilities in support of the assigned teaching.
* Undertake all assessment activity to assigned subjects.
* Ensure all classroom and practical training facilities comply with health and safety and other legislative requirements.
* Liaise with third party stakeholders as identified by faculty management, including sector skills councils, HE institutions, industry bodies, employers, etc.
* Organise work placement opportunities and monitor the learner experience.
* Carry out any other duties as directed by the Principal/Chief Executive commensurate with the grade of the post at the initial place of work or other locations within the College.
Essential Criteria
* Relevant degree or equivalent Higher Education/Advanced qualification
* GCSE English and Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
* Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
* Relevant practical/industrial experience in Furniture Design, Making, Carpentry
* Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
* Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
* Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
* Excellent punctuality
* Ability to work flexibly, under pressure and to tight deadlines
Desirable Criteria
* Relevant teaching experience
* A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education
* A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment
* Awareness of key performance indicators
* Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
* Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
* Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
* Sound understanding of digital literacy
Welsh Language Requirements
* Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Desirable
* Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 Desirable
