We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing assistance to individuals with disabilities and mental health issues including autism, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression and special educational needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients through tailored support and care.
A support worker provides assistance and facilitates engaging activities for individuals. The role also involves helping with daily tasks, promoting independence and creating opportunities for social interaction and personal growth. The specific duties vary depending on the setting and the needs of the individuals being supported.
Duties
* Provide direct support to adults with disabilities, ensuring their safety and well-being. * Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, medication administration, and mobility support (Medication training is provided) *
* Utilise challenging behaviour techniques to promote positive behaviour and skill development
* Foster a supportive environment that encourages independence and social interaction
* Organising outings and social events to encourage interaction and build relationships
* * Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care
* Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes in behaviour or health
* Offering a listening ear, offering encouragement and helping individuals to cope with challenges and set backs
* Assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting when required and in line with support plans
Requirements
* Experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health issues is preferable
* Knowledge of challenging behaviour practices is desirable
* The ability to communicate effectively with individuals, families and other professionals
* A genuine desire to help people and a strong understanding of individual needs. * The ability to cope with the demands of the role, including physical tasks and emotional challenges
* The ability to plan and organise activities, manage time effectively and maintain accurate records
* The ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 30 per week
